Department of Costume Design and Fashion successfully hosted a two-day Handloom Outreach Programme and Exhibition from 26.12.2024 to 27.12.2024 at Vivekananda Arangam. The event was inaugurated by our secretary through NKKP.Naren Raja, Principal Dr.P.Vaanathi along with the chief guests Ms.R.Chitra, Assistant Director of Handloom, Mr.C.Siva Gurunathan, Owner of Nurpu Handlooms, Chennimalai and Mr.R.Jegadeesan, Junior Technical Assistant, AEO Office, Erode by lighting the lamp. The Resource person delivered insightful talks on the significance of Handloom weaving, this exhibition feature and explicit array of Handloom Textiles and crafts the event within witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the college.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion organized a Handloom Fashion Show for all the UG and PG students on 02.08.2024 at AbdulKalam Arangam. The event featured with Mrs. Sharmila Ram Anandh, a Renowned Educationist, Founder and Philanthropist, as the Resource Person. A panel of esteemed juries, including Mr.S.Aadhavan and SoundharyaKarthi from DreamZone, Erode, and Ms.GowriSaravanan and Ms.PriyaMurali from Kovai Makkal Sevai Maiyam, Coimbatore, adjudged alongside Mrs.SharmilaRamAnandh. Our students showcased their creative talents by presenting exquisite handloom costumes, accessories and ornaments. Totally 48 students are participated, Ms.T.Swetha (III- B.Com CA) and Mr.D.Naveenkumar (III- B.Sc CDF) are selected for the Handloom Fashion Show Finals which will be held on 7th August 2024.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion celebrated the 'BCAS Fashimo Inauguration cum Freshers' Day Celebration on July 26, 2024, at Bharathiar Arangam. The Resource person was Mr.P.Venkatesh, Designer and Merchandiser in Young Style Clothing, Tirupur. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing a new beginning. The speaker discussed about the future of designing and its importance. Also keynotes the big fat wedding ceremony as a case study, highlighting its significance in designing a dress and its business strategy implementation.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised a One day Industrial visit to Chencoptex, Rithik Tex Chennimalai on 27.02.2024 (Tuesday). Our students were visited Co-operative Handloom Weaving Society, Powerloom & Airloom Unit.The actual aim of the visit is to boost up the chances for the students to get the placements and to develop the skill sets required from them to fit into the industry.

Our College Management Members, CEO Thiru.NKKP.Naren Raja, Madam CEO Tmt.Om Kaari Muthu, Principal Dr.P.Vanathi and Resource persons inaugurated the Exhibition by Lighting the Lamp. The Resource persons Dr.S.Paramasivam, Junior Technical Assistant, Department of Handlooms, Erode and Mr.G.SaravanaPandian, District Inspector of Cottage Industries, Erode quoted the importance of Handloom and Khadi. This Exhibition featured a stunning array of handloom products, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our nation. Nearly 800 students from all the departments were aware about handloom products and benefited.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion of Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode has conducted an Entrepreneurial Skill Enhancement Program on Hand Embroidery for the multi disciplinary Students on 20.02.2024 (Tuesday) at Bharathiar Arangam. The Resource Person was Ms.K.Abirami, Proprietor and Professional Makeup Artist, Abi Bridal Stylish, Erode. Students learnt Hand Embroidery which inculcates all to generate income and to promote entrepreneurship among them. Nearly 80 and above students were participated enthusiastically.
Department of Costume Design and Fashion have organised a one day Industrial Visit to Sri Sendhur Murugan Fabrics – Knitting Unit and to Flower Embroidery – Computerised Embroidery Unit to Uthukuli, Tirupur on 29.01.2024. Working Principle and Advanced Techniques were clearly demonstrated which helps to learn the real time working environment of the industry. Totally 33 students of B.Sc CDF and M.Sc CDF were participated along with 5 faculty members.
Department of CDF has organised Adobe Illustrator Hands on Training on 01.09.2023 at Computer Lab V. The Resource Person was Mr.S.Santhosh B.E, Designer and Desktop Support Engineer, ETS Academy, Erode. The students were practiced the tools and also created their sketching into vector arts. This leads to improvise their digital creativity which is an on-time need in our garment and fashion industry. Nearly, 50 Students from CDF and Computer Science department were participated.
Department of Handlooms and Textiles of TamilNadu has organised a Handloom Awareness Programme on 24/7/2023 (Monday) at IRTT Government Engineering College Erode. Thiru.R.Gandhi, Minister of Handloom and Textiles created awareness about Khadi and Handloom products. This program sensitizes our students about handloom industry and also aimed at reviving our handloom heritage of our country. Totally 43 students of B.Sc CDF, M.Sc CDF and I-B.Sc Microbiology were participated along with 3 Faculty members.
The Department of CDF organized “CELEBRITY MAKEOVER” Workshop on 16.09.2022 at our CDF Lab-I. The resource person was Mr C. Dhandapani, Professional Makeup Artist and Model, DP Makeup and Designer Studio, Chennai. Totally 50 Students of I, II, III B.Sc CDF and I M.Sc CDF students were participated. He demonstrated the Celebrity Makeup look in the cine field and explained about the product details and tools used for grooming.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion have inaugurated CDF Association “BCAS FASHIMO 2022” and also celebrated Fresher’s Day on 25.08.2022 at Bharathiar Arangam. The inauguration was started with lighting the Lamp by Ms.K.Abirami, Proprietor & Personal Stylist of Abi Bridal Stylish, Erode. Cultural events like Group Dance, Solo Singing, Lucky Corner, Fun Games etc, were organized by our association members and celebrated enthusiastically.
Department of Costume Design and Fashion has celebrated Farewell Day for final UG Students on 10.06.2022 at Bharathiar Arangam. The Faculty members were conveyed their hearty wishes for their bright future. The moment of leaving a college after the end of academic life is full of mixed emotions for the students.
The Department of CDF organised Cosmetic Formulation Workshop on 19.04.2022 at our CDF Lab-I. The Resource Person was Ms.K.Madhumitha, Cosmetic Formulator, Designer cum Entrepreneur, Look Book and Erode. Totally 50 students of our department were participated.
The Department of Costume Design and Fashion has organised intra-department competitions among our B.Sc CDF students on 04-05-2022 at CDF department. Events like Face Painting, Mahanadi, Hair-Do and Bridal Make-Over competitions were conducted.
Certificate Course on Adobe Photoshop was organized by Costume Design and Fashion department from the month of December 2021 to January 2022 for 30 Hours Duration. The course trainer was Ms.R.Sudha B.Tech IT of IFC InfoTech Computer Education, Erode. 41 Students of III-B.Sc CDF were participated and practiced in order to gain E-skills like Image Editing and Rendering, Graphic Design, Digital Art, etc which is the real time need of textile industries.
A Memorandum of Understanding is made on 16th December 2021, by and between Department of Costume Design and Fashion, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode and IFC InfoTech computer Education, Erode. The vision of the MOU is to provide Skill development courses to the students in order to prepare them for their own expectations regarding placements, future career and to intend skill development activities among them.
The department of Costume Design and Fashion and Center of Excellence Tirupur has organized an online live webinar entitled “Industrial Engineering 4.O” on 30.10.2020. Mr.Shankararagavan the day’s convenor explained about the benefits of Industrial Engineering and motivates our students and other college participants. Followed by him Mr.P.Pravinkumar, Elite Consultancy Tirupur, the day’s speaker delivered his speech about the Industrial Engineering. This online webinar helped all the participants to get an idea about the Industrial Engineering and its features. Vision of the webinar is to reach the technological developments in textile industry.
The Department of Costume Design And Fashion organized an online webinar entitled “A Tradition And Culture Of Textiles And Fashion-A Revocation On The Past Eventuality. on 20.06.2020. Mrs.Archana, Assistant professor, Department of Fashion Technology, Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy acted as a resource person. She highlighted the features and specialities of the Indian Tradition and Culture about the past and its revocation to our students. This event shows how the fashion changes and impact created among them. This webinar stimulate all the participants to think about the revolution on the costumes of Indians from the ancient period to present era. In the feedback session most of the participants were delivers their wonder about our ancestors designing skills. Totally 51 candidates were attend this webinar.
