About the Club


The Anti-Narcotic Club (ANC) of Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science is dedicated to creating a drug-free environment on campus and beyond by raising awareness about the dangers of drug use and advocating for preventive measures. Through various awareness programs, the club educates students on the harmful effects of drugs and the steps they can take to protect themselves and their peers. The core message of the club, “SAY NO TO DRUGS!” aims to inspire students to make positive choices and contribute to a healthier, drug-free society.

College Administration recognize the tireless efforts of highly motivated team members who continue to make meaningful contributions toward achieving the goals of the club. Student volunteers dedication ensures that the club remains a vital resource in promoting awareness and providing support to those in need. College look forward to the continued success and impact of the Anti-Narcotic Club.

Key Initiatives of the Anti-Narcotic Club:
  • Psycho-Social Interventions: The club focuses on providing psychological and social support to students, helping them deal with stress and peer pressure, which are often key triggers for drug experimentation and abuse.
  • One-on-One Counseling: Personalized sessions are available for students struggling with substance use or those at risk. These confidential meetings aim to address specific concerns and provide tailored guidance to individuals.
  • Promoting Goal Achievement: The club enhances students' sense of purpose and motivation, empowering them to set and achieve personal, academic, and professional goals that keep them engaged and focused, reducing the temptation of drug use.
Objectives
  1. Ensure a Drug-Free Campus: The Anti-Narcotic Club strives to maintain a drug-free environment on campus by enforcing a strict policy prohibiting the possession, use, or consumption of drugs and alcohol by students, both within the campus and in hostel areas.
  2. Educate and Empower Youth: The club aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to reject the allure of illicit drugs and make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
  3. Encourage Active Participation: Students are encouraged to actively engage in the club’s awareness programs, which include workshops, seminars, and interactive campaigns. These programs serve as platforms for students to learn, share, and take action against drug abuse.
  4. Provide Support and Counseling: The club offers counseling services to students who may show signs of drug or alcohol misuse. These sessions are designed to provide support, guidance, and resources to help students overcome addiction and make positive lifestyle choices.

The Anti-Narcotic Club (ANC) at Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science actively engages in a variety of initiatives aimed at raising awareness and combating drug abuse within the campus and the wider community. Key activities include:

  • Awareness Programs: In collaboration with the NCC, the ANC organizes awareness sessions as part of the "Clean Campus, Safe Campus" initiative. These sessions cover critical topics such as the harmful effects of narcotics, drug addiction, legal implications, and the societal impact of substance abuse.
  • Tobacco and Narcotic-Free Zone: The club ensures that no tobacco or narcotic products are sold within the campus premises or within a 100-yard radius, promoting a safe and healthy environment for students.
  • Anti-Drug Rallies: The club organizes rallies to raise awareness and encourage active participation in the fight against drug abuse. These events highlight the importance of staying drug-free and inspire the community to take action.
  • Poster Presentations: Students actively participate in creating impactful poster presentations that showcase the shocking health consequences of narcotic use. These visual aids serve as powerful reminders of the dangers of substance abuse.
  • Regular Inspections: The Anti-Narcotic Club conducts routine inspections across the campus to ensure compliance with the college's drug-free policies and to identify any areas that require further awareness or intervention.
  • Sports Competitions: To engage students and promote a healthy, active lifestyle, the club organizes sports competitions that emphasize the importance of staying drug-free while fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being.

Through these activities, the Anti-Narcotic Club continues to foster a proactive and informed campus culture, helping students make healthier choices and encouraging them to contribute to a drug-free society.

Club Activities 2024-2025

Awareness Programme “No Drugs”

The Anti-Narcotics Club organized a significant Inauguration and Awareness Programme titled “No Drugs” on 01.08.2024 at Vivekanandar Arangam, Semparuthi Kalai Kuzhu, Anthiyur. The event aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of drug use and promote a drug-free lifestyle. A total of 765 students, along with faculty members, actively participated in the program, reflecting the strong support and enthusiasm from both the student body and staff. This initiative marks a crucial step in the club’s ongoing efforts to educate and empower the campus community about the harmful effects of narcotics and to reinforce the message of living a healthy, drug-free life.

Pledge for Anti-Narcotics

The Anti-Narcotics Club, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a meaningful pledge-taking event titled "Pledge for Anti-Narcotics" on August 12, 2024, at the esteemed Thiruvalluvar Arangam. This initiative aimed to foster a sense of responsibility among students and staff to actively stand against drug abuse and promote a healthier, addiction-free society.The ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 149 students, accompanied by dedicated faculty members. Together, they solemnly pledged to uphold the principles of a drug-free life, symbolizing their commitment to a brighter future. The event not only instilled awareness but also served as a powerful reminder of the collective strength and determination required to combat the menace of substance abuse in our communities.

Drug Abuse Awareness

The Anti-Narcotics Club organized an inspiring Essay Writing Competition on the theme “Drug Abuse Awareness” on September 11, 2024, within the vibrant premises of the college campus. This intellectually enriching event aimed to encourage students to explore and articulate the profound impact of drug abuse on individuals and society, fostering critical thinking and awareness.

The competition attracted enthusiastic participation from 60 students, who expressed their thoughts and insights with creativity and conviction. This initiative provided a platform for young minds to reflect on the importance of a drug-free life and contribute their perspectives towards building a healthier, more conscious community.

Human Chain Awareness Programme

The Anti-Narcotics Club spearheaded a compelling Human Chain Awareness Programme on “Drug Abuse” on October 9, 2024, at Chithode. This impactful initiative was designed to raise awareness about the grave consequences of substance abuse and inspire collective action against it.

The programme saw the active participation of 167 students from our college, supported by faculty members who joined hands—literally and figuratively—to form a symbolic human chain.
